21st February 2016

Today Alan continued to assemble the kitchen units and then tried them in the position they are going.

I carried on filling and repairing the kitchen walls giving them another coat of paint. A lot of area will be covered by units and tiles so these areas didnt need so much attention.

Alan prepared the bedroom walls ready to skim, unfortunately even more plaster came off so there is a lot of making up to do. We hope Darren can work his magic and transform it into something that resembles a bedroom.
The Gas engineer is coming on Wednesday to remove and re route the ugly gas pipe in the bedroom and living room.

20th February 2016

Today Alan sorted the plumbing in the kitchen getting rid of a lot of the crazy old pipework.

We had a bit of a clear up outside the back door.

I put some paint on the kitchen walls so we could see where it wanted repairing and filling it wouldn't dry very well and was being a bit of a pain.

We started to assemble the kitchen units.

More filling and painting needed but it's getting there

15th February 2016

Today Ashley finished the electrics, we now have more power points than anyone could use, and the bathroom is nice and bright now.

14th February 2016

Today Alan carried on with the kitchen filling holes and plastering on top.

13th February 2016

Darren the plasterer was there when we arrived and he had already done all the walls. Although the plaster was still wet it looked like a very good job. We asked him to come back and do the bedroom walls, it seems like the sensible option.

The ceiling will have to stay as it is because he can't plaster on top of artex and it would be a big job to get it off, the only way it could be done is boarded like the living room but that really would be stretching the budget.

Ashley hadn't finished , he has to come back to do another socket and lights in the bathroom, also put all the socket fronts on.

Afterwards we had a big clean up and Alan stared to fill the holes in the kitchen.

Pipes and wires in the corner will be boxed in as its not practical to remove the gas pipe. Update Pipe has now been removed.

12th February 2016

Went to the bungalow today briefly, Darren the plasterer has started the living room, all the large holes filled and the ceiling boarded and plastered he is coming back tomorrow.
Ashley the electrician should be coming today to finish off.

10th February 2016

Today Ashley the electrician came, he put in extra power points, lowered some original ones, re sited the cooker wire, and chased the wires into the walls that were originally on the surface.
He will come back on Friday to finish off, also replace the bathroom light and put a new one in the bathroom lobby, there isn't one at the moment and it's a bit dim in there at night.

More of the plaster came off than was expected in the bedroom so that will have to be sorted.

7th February 2016

Firstly today we went to have a look at the kitchen we have picked and we decided it was what we wanted so we will get that ordered.

Alan took off the wall tiles in the kitchen,  he took up the bathroom floor tiles and removed all the shelves out of the tank cupboard in the living room. It's a strange place for the tank to be but it's not practical to move it. We do have a plan to make this area more acceptable but thats for later.

I stripped the walls in the little bathroom lobby area, it was a bit stubborn, some of the plaster looks newish but there are areas of old plaster that has come away from the wall and will have to be sorted.
I had to clean up the walls in the living room ready for being plastered, it had all yellow paint on that needed removing.

Off come the tiles

The ugly cupboard which houses the tank, though we can't remove the tank we have plans for this to hopefully make it more attractive

This is the lilltle lobby area as you go into the bathroom all will become clear

6th February 2016

Today we carried on stripping off the wall paper, mainly in the kitchen, we found that the main walls weren't too bad they had been replastered some time ago I think we may be able to make those good enough for painting.
It looks like the little hallway into the bathroom has been made smaller at some time, to give more space in the kitchen we think that area had a basin in it at sometime.

I also did the little porch by the front door too.

Alan took all the kitchen units out and discovered the maze of pipes under the sink, that wants sorting out.

31st January 2016

We got really stuck in today, all the wall paper had to go so we started in the bedroom and worked our way round. Using the steamer was a must, in parts there was 3 layers of wall paper.
Some of the plaster came off, it looks worse than it is and we found nothing we were worried about.  We will be talking to Darren the plasterer in the next day or two so we can get some quotes for the rooms.

Safety first.....as they say in Breaking bad.....'lets cook'

30th January 2016

Today we had a good look round and did some planning.

A major job will be replacing the old kitchen, altering the layout, adding a new oven, hob, cooker hood and new tiles.

Although the place has been rewired some time ago there needs to be more power points and the wires need chasing into the walls, there also needs to be a couple of extra lights added here and there and the cooker point wants moving.

There are a couple of gas pipes which seem to have been put in random places these will have to be re-routed. The gas fire will be replaced with an electric one, not sure what to do about the fire back as I quite like the tiles at the back, it will depend what fire we have.
The central heating boiler is about 8 years old so it has plenty of life left in it.

The whole place will be redecorated and plastered where needed (ffunds allowing), adding new interior doors. The exterior doors are quite new and very secure, all the windows are upvc as are the facias and soffits.

The bathroom, though very small is acceptable and clean, it is completly tiled, has a large shower cubical a relativley new electric shower, toilet and basin. The only thing needed in here is new floor covering, new taps and a new loo seat.

Overall we are pleased with the place and can't wait to get stuck in.

In the new arrangement the sink will be moved along making way for the washing machine near the window and the fridge next to the new unit on the other side
The new electric oven and hob will be moved over to the middle of this area,

29th January 2016

Today we became 'proud' owners of this little 1935 bungalow, I say proud owners .......we will be when it's been spruced up!

It has only one bedroom, a small bathroom, lounge, a reasonable size kitchen a large loft and a large garden.
