Today I gave the bedroom another coat of paint, Alan fixed the units and  worktops, and put the door fronts on, leaving the protective film for a reveal later on. Still bits and bobs to do in the kitchen but are pleased with the result so far.
Alan laid the cushion floor, but this has got to be refined.

Today we worked on the kitchen, I tiled the opposite wall above the worktop, after I grouted them I decided that another day I am going to carry on round the corner to the window. Alan did the pipework for the sink taps and the wastepipe.  He also fitted the cooker hood and boxed in above the boiler.

We have decided, funds don't stretch as far as a new bedroom ceiling, we will have to try to make it as good as we can. Alan did some repairs which need painting over and then we will review it.

After taking so much time to dry out I was able to paint the other bedroom walls and what a difference.

Concentration

Don't think the tiling is bad for a beginner

We have running water, time for a brew

Today I set to and started the tiles on the kitchen walls, I hadn't really done any tiling before and was a bit wary of the cutting and placing around the sockets e.t.c but although slow I got on quite well and actually enjoyed it.

Alan fitted the rest of the wall units and put sealer around the boiler chimney where it was leaking

Today we had Ashley back to help wire in the cooker and hob, I did some painting in the bedroom but some of it still wasn't dried out, we had hoped to get the boiler working earlier in the week as this would have helped but it wasn't to be. Mal the gas engineer came back in the afternoon and after much deliberation got it working thank goodness.

Alan did some plumbing ready for the sink and sanded some of the skirting boards.

News on the boiler.

It never rains but it pours!!!!!!

Mal the gas engineer came out to look at it and found that because of heavy rain in the night water had got into it due to a leak where the flu goes out of the roof around the flashing.
After drying it out he found this wasn't the reason for it not working it apears it needs a new printed circuit. We have souced a reconditioned one ourselves at about a third of the price and he is fitting it all being well on Saturday.

I guess one of Alans first jobs on Saturday will be to go up and fix the leak.

6th March 2016

Although we had the day off yesterday we did go shopping for kitchen wall tiles, we found some that were just the thing in B&Q for £10 a sq m beats Topps tiles cheapest they could do was £23 a sq m. I love a bargain.

Today it was back to work.

The plaster in the bedroom wasn't dry, mostly where it had been patched up and had to be rendered. We decided to get the radiators back on and get the boiler ticking over gently to give the plaster a little help to dry.

Alan fitted the radiators which meant replacing the brackets, topping up the radiator addative and bleeding them. We tried everything to get the boiler working, we knew it did work because it had been on when we first went in. After consultation with Colin on the phone when we got home, decided it was probablty the fan that was stuck and needed assistance, This will have to be done tomorrow night.

I finished painting the living room and set too sanding down the door frames.

Alan fitted the wall units and base units on one side of the kitchen.

Note the hole around the boiler chimney, we discovered the wet was getting in around the flashing outside and wet the ceiling so another couple of jobs to add to the list.

24th February 2016

Mal the Gas engineer came ro remove the ugly pipe in the bedroom and re-route it outside and it now comes through into the kitchen up and accross in the loft and down to the boiler. He also removed the pipes in the corner of the living room and re-routed the old pipes in the bathroom lobby ceiling.
This is where the old boiler used to be someone previously had thought  it a good idea just to join the pipes.

Ashley the Electrician came to re-route the wires to the boiler.

Pipes in the living room, the plasterer will make good the corner
