Today Alan got on with repairing the ceiling where the lobby had been, he also filled in the cracks in the porch and later gave it a first coat of paint I think it will need a few.

I carried on with the window sills, I wasn't sure I could make them look o.k but after some heavy duty sanding and a few coats of paint I think they are now acceptable. I also painted the fireplace.

I cut the grass for the first time.... (several times and it filled the wheelie bin to the top.

After...Lucy trying it out

Alan undercoated the skirting boards in the living room and bedroom, he also removed the light from where the bathroom lobby was and re-routed a switch in the airing cupboard.

I started on the window sills and the cupoard in the porch and gave the doors another coat of gloss.

We thought the shower ought to be tried out to make sure it was ok so Alan took a shower, it appeared to work fine although nothing seems to run smoothe and there was a small leek from the shower tray which will have to be fixed.

White door frames at last

Yes...the shower works

The carpenter has let us down, after trying all week to contact him and finally getting him via text he made all sorts of excuses about not recieving message but made no apology and no alternative date.
Wish you had let us know you didn't want the job three weeks ago  JODY COY.
A chippy by the name of Terry has stepped in but he has to come from Skegness, he will be staring on 25th.

I carried on with sanding and painting. (note to self don't buy B&Q undercoat or johnsons gloss it's rubbish)
I also mowed the grass which was long over due, I went over it five times and filled the wheely bin.

Alan re-routed the wires for the light switch where we had taken the wall down, ( Darren will come next week to paster the area) he also sanded the skirting boards in the living room and bedroom.

I did some more tiling around the inside of the back door.

9th April 2016

After mulling over the bathroom lobby we decided  it serves very little purpose and the door is really in the wrong place to be able to use the kitchen to it's full extent. We had a quote for doing it but it was far too costly.

After dicussing all the options we decided to take it down altogether, we were doubtful only because the units are all in and the kitchen is nearly finished, but we set too, covered as much as we could and away went Alan taking it down bit by bit so as to make as little mess as was possible.

A new door the right size will have to be found, made or adapted as it's quite a small doorway into the bathroom. The walls and ceiling will have to be made good but it does open out the kitchen and make it more usable.

1st & 2nd April 2016

Having had Easter weekend off it was back to work.

We found the roof above the kitchen was still leaking, Alan set to work to find the problem and eventually found where it was coming from and fixed it. It appeared to be a gap between the tiles which has possibly been like it since the boiler chimney was fitted.

I tiled around the windows and window sills in the kitchen, also
repaired and painted one of the walls.
We sanded the door frames ready to paint so the doors can be fitted next week.
The bathroom lobby door will be on hold because we have'nt decided what to do about this yet because the door encroaches on the kitchen space and would be better placed at the other end but this would make a lot of mess and quite a cost to get it made right afterwards.
